Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are rehearsing their National Lampoon Christmas holiday roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold for a new Ford Mustang Mach-E commercial.

Comedian Chevy Chase resumes his role as Clark Griswold in “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” in a new holiday announcement for the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E crossover.
The 60-second spot features Chase with original actress Beverly D’Angelo as his wife, Ellen, recreating a memorable scene from the 1989 film in which Clark tries to turn on the Christmas lights outside the family home. But instead of looking at the family’s flamboyant decorations, they are drawn to a Mach-E Mustang on the driveway.
Chase thanked Ford Motor for the role, as well as for an undisclosed amount of money for which he was paid for the ad: “It’s great to be back for a new Christmas with my family on screen and its rotating assortment of kids – and I Ford and the Mustang Mach-E thank you for paying me to do it, “he said in a statement.” I assume you expect some kind of riff on electric cars, but I can say with 85% certainty that this is likely will not cause interruptions in your neighborhood when you connect it. “
Ford posted the announcement on YouTube ahead of its scheduled broadcast debut on Tuesday on an encore show of the Saturday Night Live Christmas special at 9 p.m. on NBC.
The Mach-E Mustang, which arrives in the US, is an important product for Ford. It marks the first new EV in an $ 11 billion investment plan in electric vehicles by 2022 and is Ford’s first blow to Tesla – the leader in the electric vehicle industry.
The Chase-Mach-E announcement comes almost a year after a well-received Super Bowl announcement for the Fiat Chrysler Jeep, in which actor Bill Murray reprized his role in the 1993 “Groundhog Day.”
