Charles Martinet would like to express Mario in the upcoming light film

Like any other major video game franchise at the moment, Super Mario is adapted into a big screen movie.

If you’ve been wondering if Mario’s voice, Charles Martinet, will express the iconic installer of the upcoming CGI movie, you might be interested to read on. In Charles’ words, it appears that he was not contacted by Nintendo or Illumination at this stage.

“Well, it sounds like a wonderful thing, it sounds like great fun, and if it invites me to play, I’ll come in and play with great joy and happiness.”

“It should be a lot of fun, you know, everything that touches lighting seems to be fun, and so does Nintendo.”

If this is the case, production has probably not yet been able to make decisions. That being said, Hollywood also seems to have a common habit of replacing the voice talent of video game characters with movie stars.

Earlier this week, for example, Jack Black was announced as the voice of Claptrap from Borderland. At the time, the character’s original voice said it was a “crushing disappointment” to lose the role, but he wished Black all the best.

The Super Mario CGI movie will be released in 2022. Nintendo is proactively involved in its creation, and Shigeru Miyamoto is on board as co-producer.
