Charges against a man who tried to flee Guayama Command

The man who tried to flee Guayama Command last night while being booked will now face charges of attempted murder, robbery, escape and violation of the Weapons Law.

The Justice Department reported tonight that a total of 16 charges were filed against Anthony Colón Maldonado.

According to the investigation, Colón Maldonado, 33, snatched the regulatory weapon from a police officer at a time when it was reserved for other charges committed between January 23 and 24. He then made several detonations when he left the Commandery, only to be later arrested with the help of a citizen.

Judge Brenda Sala Rivera of Guayama Court determined the probable cause in all the charges and imposed a $ 1,450,000 bail, which he failed to pay and was admitted to prison.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 2, 2021.
