The letter is part of the evidence gathered by the FBI that is said to have been crucial to Chapo’s wife’s arrest.
Following the arrest of Emma Coronel, the wife of Mexican drug trafficker Joaquín “el Chapo” Guzmán, a letter was leaked on the Internet linking her to her husband’s illegal affairs.
The letter that is part of the evidence gathered by the FBI is said to detail the activities of the Sinaloa cartel.
FBI agent Eric S. McGuire presented the evidence, including an affidavit filed Wednesday, Feb. 17, to obtain the colonel’s arrest warrant.

Although the letter initially speaks about Cleto, a Durango-based drug trafficker who produces heroin for El Chapo, authorities claim the letter contains explicit instructions that would accuse Coronel.
“The mother of the twins will say something to you and my children. Please be attentive compadre. She will explain it to you, ”the letter says. “The mother of the twins has a message for all of you,” he adds. According to the FBI agent, the twins’ mother is a colonel.
McGuire said the letter has been verified by multiple witnesses, including cooperating witness # 1.
In addition, the cooperating witness told me that Coronel agreed to help Guzmán escape from the Altiplano (prison) through an underground tunnel, the document reads.
According to the witness, Emma personally asked him for help in Chapo’s escape from Altiplano prison.

“During the meeting, Coronel, Iván, Alfredo, Ovidio and the witness agreed to organize the construction of an underground tunnel connected to the Altiplano to facilitate the escape,” the accusation filed by the Justice Department said.
The catch
A federal judge in the United States on Tuesday ordered the temporary detention of Emma Coronel Aispuro, who was arrested Monday in the state of Virginia, outside Washington, without the possibility of bail.
Emma faces a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison, in addition to a possible fine of $ 10 million, if convicted of the criminal charges against her.
At the initial hearing on the case, Judge Robin Meriweather of the Federal District Court of the District of Columbia agreed to the prosecution’s request to hold her temporarily in Virginia before trial, as there was a “serious risk of flight.”
