Chad Wheeler thought he drowned his girlfriend: cops

Seahawks offensive line officer Chad Wheeler believed his girlfriend had died after suffocating her unconscious – and was shocked to survive, according to a police report.

Wheeler, a backup striker who played for the Giants from 2017 to 2019, was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of serious domestic violence after his girlfriend told police he assaulted her in a Kent apartment, she said. Seattle Times.

Officers responded to the residence and found the woman locked in a bathroom after a “physical fight” with Wheeler. She told police during a 911 call that she was “killed” and had a dislocated arm. Navalist Seahawks had taken medication for the bipolar disorder, but recently stopped taking it, according to the police report.

Wheeler, who is 6 feet, 7 inches and 310 pounds, was surprised when his girlfriend regained consciousness after the alleged attack, according to the report.

Photos allegedly of a battered woman circulating on Twitter showed her with a bloody nose while she was in the hospital. The text messages she sent showed how “cold” Wheeler was during the alleged attack.

“He thought I was dead on my bed and continued to eat,” the message read. “When I ran to the bathroom, he said, ‘Wow, you’re still alive,’ while sipping a smoothie.”

The attack took place after Wheeler asked his girlfriend to bow in front of him, according to the police report.

The Seahawks told ESPN on Tuesday that team officials were aware of the situation and were “still gathering” information.

Wheeler was released from King County Jail on Tuesday after registering a $ 400,000 bond, online records show.

He is due to return to court on Wednesday for a probable cause hearing. A judge ordered Wheeler not to contact the victim or possess weapons during a Monday hearing, the Seattle Times reported.

In 2015, Wheeler was detained by Los Angeles police while a student-athlete at USC, where he hit walls and windows while under the influence. He was not arrested, but taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
