The vibrations, it seems, come through a new teaser poster, which you can view above, and a song from the game’s soundtrack, which is composed by composer Celeste Lena Raine. You can listen to that song here.
Thorson says the “air of mystery” surrounding this revealing atmosphere works well for the game, which is why Extremely OK Games has opted to save details about the game’s story and more for a “great revelation that will hopefully throw your socks off.” . As far as is known, however, the team needed four different prototypes to “find Earthblade”, according to the blog post.
It’s not mentioned in Thorson’s blog post, but if you click on the link to their teaser poster embedded in the post, it takes you to a page called Earthblade “a 2D action game explored in a pixel art world seamless ”. It is also said to come in 20XX – at least we know it will come in this century.
The team initially hoped the game would be released earlier than five years after their last release, which Thorson notes is how long it took Celeste to come out after TowerFall, but “now it sounds optimistic to say out loud that Earthblade could be released in within five years of Celeste. “Extremely OK Games doesn’t know how long it will take for Earthblade to come out, but it does know that ‘it will take as long as it takes … and it will take a long time.’
“I see its general shape and I feel very good about where it’s going,” writes Thorson. “Now it is our job to transform this ephemeral and pure object-mind into a real, imperfect and human object. We will be here, slowly grinding this task every day. We truly hope that at the end of this, some of you will enjoy what we do. “
