CBS has launched an internal review after Sharon Osbourne confronted co-host Sheryl Underwood for Osbourne’s support of former “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morgan following her exit from the show.
“We are dedicated to a diverse, inclusive and respectful job,” CBS said in a statement to The Hill. “All aspects of Wednesday’s episode of The Talk are currently under internal review.”
Part of Wednesday’s episode became tense after Underwood asked Osbourne what he would say to those who saw Osbourne’s support for Morgan to be racist.
“I even feel like I’m about to be put on the electric chair, because I have a friend that many people think is racist, so he makes me racist. And for me, at the age of 68, I have to go back and say, “I’m not racist” – what does that have to do with me? Said Osbourne. “How can I be racist with someone?” How can I be racist with someone or something in my life? How can I? ”
Underwood calmly led the show to a break. When the show returned, Osbourne asked to know from Underwood what Morgan’s comments and past behavior were racist.
The discussion between Underwood and Osbourne came after Morgan, during an episode of “Good Morning Britain”, said on Monday that he did not believe aspects of Meghan. Morgan later left the show on Tuesday after a fellow presenter confronted him for remarks. Morgan left the show later that day.
After Morgan left, Osbourne wrote on Twitter: “@piersmorgan I’m with you. Support you. People forget that you are paid for your opinion and that you are only telling the truth. ”

When the conversation returned to “The Talk,” Osbourne repeatedly insisted on Underwood as to why Morgan’s actions were racist.
– I’ll ask you again, Sheryl. I asked you during the break. I ask you again and don’t try to cry, because if someone should cry, it should be me, ”Osbourne said. Tell me where you heard him say it. Educate me. Tell me when you heard him say racist things and educate me. Tell me! “
Underwood then calmly explained that he did not directly accuse Osbourne of being racist, but that he felt that Morgan was racist towards Meghan in his position. The segment cooled when co-hosts Elaine Welteroth and Amanda Kloots joined the discussion.
Osbourne apologized for the exchange on Twitter on Friday, after backlash.
“For any person of color that I have offended and / or for anyone who feels confused or disappointed by what I have said, I am really sorry,” she said. “I panicked, I felt blinded, I defended myself and I allowed my fear and dread of being accused of being racist to take control.”

Morgan on Friday asked “The Talk” to apologize to Osbourne for the meeting.
“Sharon was ashamed and intimidated to apologize for defending me against colleagues who accused me of racism because I don’t think Meghan Markle’s vile *,” Morgan posted on Twitter. “It simply came to our notice then. I apologize to these @TheTalkCBS aggressors for their shameful insults against ME. ”
