Carson Wentz The Philadelphia era is over today, as the former second general team was assigned to the Colts. However, just because Wentz was sent the packaging doesn’t necessarily mean that Jalen Hurts will slip into the place of departure. Sources tell Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen of ESPN that eagle intends to bring “competition” to the defender and “does not expect the starting position to go automatically to Hurts”.
The Eagles made a significant commitment to Hurts when they selected him in the second round of last year’s draft, and the former Alabama / Oklahoma player showed flashes of potential during the 2020 season. last four of his 15 appearances last season, completing 52 percent of his passes for 1,061 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. He added another 354 yards and three touchdowns on 63 carries.
It’s pretty clear that Hurts is the heir to the full-back’s defense, so this report is probably mostly missing … teams don’t want their young players to rest on their laurels. Rather, the team is likely looking at a free veteran agent who will provide additional motivation to the young signal caller.

- Colts ended up sending Philly a third-round pick in 2021 and a conditional second-round pick in 2022. According to Zak Keefer of The Athletic, Indy’s offer “hasn’t changed that much in 10 days. negotiations ”. The Colts main office eventually believed the compensation was “fair” and never intended to “meet the Eagles’ initial first-round multiple choice requirements”. After Keefer, the Colts understood that Wentz was not their only option to replace Philip Rivers, and the main office weighed other options while negotiating with Philadelphia.
- I found out earlier today that the Bears asked Wentz, but they never made a final offer. The same goes for Patriots. According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, New England called the Eagles about the quarterback, but lost interest when they heard the asking price. As the reporter remarks, it is unlikely that the patriots will “overpay for a veteran if it is not a perfect match”, especially at this time of the off-season.
- How he got to this point between Wentz and eagle? ESPN’s Tim McManus writes that Hurts could have marked the “beginning of the end,” but there were plenty of additional factors that came into play in the 2020 season. As the Eagles’ losses and injuries continued to grow, ( former) head coach Dougal Pederson it stripped Wentz of “much of the control over crime.” As a result, Wentz indirectly lost confidence in his head coach and system.

Wentz had a similar feeling towards the owner Jefrey Lurie, who supported GM and the bureau’s decision to select Hurts in the second round.
