Carmelo Anthony shows his face for the Trail Blazers to defeat the Sixers

Philadelphia Gary Trent scored 24 points, and Enes Kanter had 17 points and 18 rebounds to lead a decimated Portland Trail Blazers in Thursday’s 121-105 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Carmelo Anthony added 22 points for Portland.

Joel Embiid scored 37 points for the Sixers. Tobias Harris added 12 points and 11 boards.

Embiid extended his credentials to be selected at the All-Star Game in a match that was otherwise starless. Ben Simmons did not play because of a stiffness in his left leg.

Portland played without Damian Lillard (abdominal tension) and Derrick Jones Jr. (left leg sprain). Four other players have already been ruled out due to injury – including CJ McCollum (left foot).

Thus, the Trail Blazers had only nine players available.

Without Lillard or McCollum, Trent had two 3s and Portland outscored the 76ers 40-19 in the third period.

Portland started the commitment in 26th place in defense, allowing 117.1 points per game. McCollum posted on Twitter: “We could climb to 22nd place in the league in defense, after this incredible performance!”

Embiid scored 31 points in the first half (making 11 of 17 shots from the field, 9 of 9 free throws) and could have reached 40 if he had not left the game for four minutes with a knee straight. Embiid scared Philadelphia after he got sick in the first period when he tried to block a shot.

The Cameroonian headed for the locker room and returned 90 seconds after the end of the period.
