The pandemic changed the usual initials of the party campaign, because until Saturday only ARENA and GANA had announced symbolic events for the beginning.
By law, candidates for deputies can start their proselytizing campaign two months before the elections, for which the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) has authorized since this Sunday, so that candidates can ask for the vote and expose their platforms.
Due to the health situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the parties were not clear until the beginning of last week whether they will organize events to start their campaigns. Many applicants consulted were waiting for directions or thinking of campaigning through social media or in person.
TSE announced that the aspirants to legislator have from December 27 to February 24, 2021 to develop their election campaign for the elections.
Until Saturday night, only ARENA and GANA requested events to open the campaign for deputies.

GANA called at 10:00 a.m. at its headquarters in San Salvador, at 6:30 p.m., in the Flor Blanca neighborhood.
ARENA, in turn, called for this Sunday at 6:00 pm in the Bicentennial Park of San Salvador.
Supreme Electoral Court Magistrate Guillermo Wellman asked this week to maintain the distance measures, not the crowds and the use of a mask and an alcohol gel if the parties organize proselytizing events. He also advised that it is best to ask for the vote through social networks.
