Urbanist is not a household name. Established in Sweden, the company produces cheap products, design headphones for those who don’t want to spend a few hundred dollars on options from Apple, Bose, or beatings. Their latest product, Miami, is a pair of active noise canceling headphones with a battery life of 50 hours and a tempting price.

These are not premium Headphones. They are beautifully designed and monochrome shades – aIn the review unit I tested, a bright glossy green / blue that really appears – they are quite fashionable. The audio quality is good and fits perfectly even on larger heads. I used them exercising for a few weeks and then in a six-hour flight and I was impressed in both cases. They stayed on my head as I ran in the shadows and ran, and in flight, they destroyed enough airplane noise to make things very pleasant.

The headphones also have ear sensors, so they will stop playing when you take them off. Pair this with a 50-hour battery and you have an interesting set of noisespoons.

You can connect Urbanista Miami wirelessly via Bluetooth or to a regular audio jack with the included cable. Also the box includes an international adapter for airplane seats with dual audio inputs. It all works well, and you can stop the ANC with a side button. You can even listen to the headphones when the battery is low, although the sound quality is very muddy.

However, if you need audiophile quality, it’s not a $ 149 pair of headphones. However, the attractive design, you certainly do not get it lots of range with these guys. They they are hard for bass, a fairly common problem with cheaper, marketable headphones like these. That’s it great for kids and teens or maybe if you are looking for something that you will wear to the gym or on the road for a few years, they will work well. I can’t attest to the quality of the construction in the long run, but the whole set is made of plastic and I saw a bit of wear even in the few weeks I used it. As you can see, the rubber ears are already wrinkled with a little use and it can be easily broken and can be divided with extreme use.

But active noise cancellation works, and this is the real draw of Miami’s real draw. FINDING quality ANC in a USD 149 headset it’s rare, and they definitely work. They are an acceptable alternative to lower cost headphones such as Sony WH-CH510 or a little more expensive than $ 179 AKG N60NC headphones with noise cancellation.

That being said, if you’re looking for a pair of headphones for a pretentious teenager or a low-budget traveler, you could do worse than that – a pair of fashion-focused headphones with a bit of discarded high technology. People who used headphones like Bose 700 noise canceling headphones, Sony WH-1000XM3, or AirPods Pro Max will certainly be disappointed by Miami Urbanist, but if you are looking for a quick and affordable solution for you noise cancellation needs, have a fair price and work well.
