With witness Mauricio Dantas Bezerra, the lawyer who represented Odebrecht in the agreement signed with the prosecutor in 2017, this court accredited over 20 documentary evidence against those involved in the case of the Brazilian company.
The head of the Office of the Special Prosecutor for Administrative Corruption (Pepca), Wilson Camacho, said that the evidence credited before the judges of the First Collegiate Court of the National District against the six involved in the notorious case is devastating.
The hearing was postponed for today at 9:00, with the questioning of the key witness of the public prosecutor, Dantas Bezerra, with whom the court began its statement last Friday.
The court took the decision, after rejecting several objections raised by the defense of those involved, thus trying to get the court to reject the accreditation of documentary evidence to the executive witness in Odebrecht.
During the hearing, witness Dantas Bezerra testified in court that Odebrecht made payments for several million dollars that were intended for defendant Víctor Díaz Rúa, through defendant Conrado Pittaluga.
He argued that payments to Pittaluga were made through Odebrecht’s structured operations sector through offshore accounts of Lachan, Conansa and Newport, “one of which was for Mr Conrado Pittaluga,” according to the witness.
He also said that payments were made to Ángel Rondón Rijo, the main defendant in the 92 million US bribe.
Meanwhile, Camacho assured that the statements of witness Dantas Bezerra represent the beginning of a series of elements that will sufficiently prove the accusation against the six defendants in the Odebrecht case.
“We are coming today in order to continue to test our case theory beyond any reasonable doubt, which we have done so far,” said the deputy prosecutor, after evaluating the statements of Dantas Bezerra, the first witness to testify after the six. accused of receiving a bribe of 92 million US dollars that the Brazilian company admitted to having paid to obtain the award of public works in the country.
Asked by reporters about the statements of the defendants’ lawyers who infringe on the testimony of Brazilian Dantas Bezerra, Judge Camacho said it was normal for the defense to try to minimize the statements of a witness who proves the facts. following the prosecutor.
