California Launches COVID-19 Vaccination Work-for-Shot Volunteer Program – NBC Bay Area

As COVID-19 vaccinations continue to grow in California, the state is running a volunteer work program.

The governor’s office, along with California Volunteers, on Monday launched MyTurnVolunteer, a portal where people can sign up to work volunteer shifts at vaccination sites, based on their zip code, and in turn become eligible for a shootout. .

A California volunteer spokesman told SFGate that most vaccination sites are looking for medical or general care volunteers, and anyone who works four hours or more can get a chance, even if they are not eligible under state guidelines.

Opportunities are limited, officials said, but people can register on the portal to receive a notification when a volunteer slot opens.

At present, general eligibility for vaccination is limited to people aged 65 and over, health workers and certain essential workers, such as educators, in accordance with the state-level system.

As of Monday, more than 10.5 million doses of vaccine have been administered statewide, more than 13.3 million doses have been administered in the state and more than 14.5 million doses, including the first and second doses, were shipped to California, according to the latest state information numbers.
