Bye. Confirms that COVID-19 hospitalizations decrease as vaccine pressure increases | Pennsylvania news

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Department of Health confirmed starting with 12:00, February 13, that there were 4,088 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 892,344.

Currently, there are 2,548 people hospitalized with COVID-19, according to officials.

Of this number, 496 patients are in the COVID-19 intensive care unit.

However, coronavirus hospitalizations in Pennsylvania have dropped by more than half since peaking in December.

Officials say there are currently 2,600 people hospitalized with the virus.

Hospitalizations reached a maximum of over 6,000 at the end of December.

Despite the sharp decline, hospitalizations remain high. The number of coronavirus patients currently being treated in hospitals is equal to the first peak of the pandemic last spring.

The percentage of positivity at national level for the week of February 5 – February 11 stood at 8.0%.

The most accurate daily data are available on the website, and archived data are also available.

According to officials, as of 11:59 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, there were 113 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 23,072 deaths attributed to COVID-19. County-specific information and a state-level map are available on the COVID-19 dashboard.

Distribution of COVID-19 vaccine

Pennsylvania hospitals began receiving Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine deliveries in the week of December 14 and the modern COVID-19 vaccine in the week of December 21.

Officials note that this includes the administration of the CVS vaccine as part of the federal pharmaceutical partnership.

Vaccination numbers for Pennsylvania do not include Philadelphia, which is its own jurisdiction, or federal facilities, which work directly with the federal government.

This week, a total of 318,450 doses will be allocated by February 13:

  • 175,175 first doses will be allocated this week.
  • 143,275 second doses will be allocated this week.

To date, of the 2,439,550 doses allocated by February 13, a total of 1,588,761 doses have been administered by February 12:

  • First doses, 85% (1,210,194 administered out of 1,426,600 allocated)
  • Second dose, 37% (378,567 administered out of 1,012,950 allocated)

According to officials, there are 103,737 people who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered likely cases and 637 people who have a positive serological test and either COVID-19 symptoms or high-risk exposure.

There are 3,757,904 people who have given negative results so far.

In authorized health care and personal care homes, there are 65,387 cases of resident COVID-19 and 12,680 cases among employees, for a total of 78,067 at 1,555 separate facilities in all 67 counties.

Of the total deaths reported to PA-NEDSS, 12,000 occurred in residents of health care or personal care institutions.

Officials note that the number of deaths reported to the NEDSS is not exactly the same as COVID-19 deaths reported by the death registry.

The number of deaths among residents and employees of personal and personal care is taken from the PA-NEDSS death data, as this information is not available in the death register.

About 24,157 of the total cases are among health care workers.

On Friday, the Wolf Administration issued a COVID-19 vaccination order to help speed up the process.

According to officials, while the supply of vaccines from the federal government remains limited, the Department of Health is working to ensure that the vaccine is delivered in an ethical, fair and efficient manner.
