Buffalo Bills extends Micah Hyde’s security contract until 2023

BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo Bills and safety Micah Hyde have agreed to extend the contract for two years, the team announced Friday, keeping him in Buffalo until the 2023 season.

The two-year extension is worth $ 19.25 million, the NFL network reported.

Pro Bowler in 2017, Hyde is among the leaders in the defense of Bills and forms one of the best security duos in the league with Jordan Poyer.

Hyde was scheduled to become a free agent after the 2021. Now, he, Poyer and defender Tre’Davious White are signed at least in the 2022 season.

Since joining the Green Bay Packers Bills in 2017, Hyde is Bills’ third-rounder with 282 combined approaches and third with nine interceptions and 25 assists. It ended with 70 approaches and an interception in 2020.

GM’s Bill Brandon Beane foreshadowed an extension during his end-of-season press conference, proclaiming himself Hyde’s fans.

“I haven’t seen any departures from Micah this year, so I can’t say I think it’s declining or anything like that,” Beane said. “I’m a big fan of Micah Hyde, exactly what he brings not only on the field, but also in our building. You feel me. One of the most positive personalities out there and just a super competitive guy. You wouldn’t feel that way. that’s when you only talk to him in an interview, he probably doesn’t feel competitive in an individual conversation.

“But when he’s on this field, he’s one of the most competitive and that’s what you like about him. I think he’ll definitely play for years in this league, if he wants to.”
