Broward County’s Covid Vaccine Scheduling Portal is back online after the site went down last week following a high demand for appointments.
The portal allows residents over the age of 65 to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine at no cost.
When the website went live last week, all slots were booked quickly by February, and the portal began to experience intermittent outages.
“Thank you for your patience during this time,” reads a Florida Department of Health press release.
The department also asked eligible seniors to check the website often, as they increase the number of vaccination sites for the elderly in the coming weeks.
Direct vaccination sites are also available. Appointments cannot be made by phone.
“We are sorry that the registration system did not work as we intended. We recognize that our community of seniors is eager to receive the vaccine, “said Dr. Paula Thaqi, director of the Florida Department of Health in Broward, last week.
“Please know that this is just the beginning of COVID-19 vaccination opportunities. As the local supply of vaccines increases, DOH-Broward, together with our partners, are ready to vaccinate people aged 65 and over, as well as additional priority groups as they are identified. “
