Shortly after Florida Department of Health officials relaunched the COVID-19 vaccination portal in Broward County, the website appeared to be offline again after being interrupted earlier in the week.
The portal is meant to allow residents over the age of 65 to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine at no cost. Before going offline on Sunday, he had offered regular meetings as well as vaccination schedules.
The site was launched for the first time on Wednesday, and all available slots were quickly booked by February before the portal began intermittent outages.
Several residents report that the Broward County immunization portal, https://browardcovidvaccine.com/, posted this error message.
“We are sorry that the registration system did not work as we intended,” Dr. Paula Thaqi, director of the Florida Department of Health in Broward, said after Wednesday’s initial outage. “We recognize that our senior community is eager to receive the vaccine. “
Officials announced that the portal was open again on Sunday, thanking residents for their patients in a press release, but moments later NBC 6 received several reports from residents who were unable to access the site.
Meetings at this time cannot be made by telephone. The department urged eligible seniors to check the portal often, saying they were increasing the number of vaccination sites for the elderly in the coming weeks.
“Please know that this is just the beginning of COVID-19 vaccination opportunities,” Thaqi remarked on Wednesday. “As local vaccine supply grows, DOH-Broward, along with our partners, are ready to vaccinate people aged 65 and over as well as additional priority groups as they are identified.”
