Brooke Baldwin announces she will leave CNN: “I have more to do”

Anchor Brooke Baldwin leaves CNN after more than a decade on the cable news network.

Baldwin announced his next departure during a on-air segment on Tuesday, sharing that he will leave the network in April. Ancora joined CNN as an independent in 2008 before fulfilling her “dream” of becoming a full-time correspondent, she said.

“I remember writing my hand on a Post-it note and blocking it outside this temporary office, determined to fulfill my dream of becoming a full-time CNN correspondent,” she said. “I wanted to be one of the best in the best news and cable journalism, and as a native Atlantean, this would be my hometown team.”

Baldwin later thanked CNN colleagues and viewers: “I am so grateful for your loyalty and passion for the world we cover.”

Ancora expressed his gratitude to the viewers who sent him messages of support when he had COVID-19 last year. Baldwin said he tested positive for the virus in April. He returned to work weeks later, describing his time with coronavirus as “relentless, scary and lonely.”

Baldwin’s work at CNN over the years included covering the 2016 presidential election; reporting from overseas locations, including Europe, Africa and the Middle East; and visiting Newtown, Connecticut, where he reported on the mass shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, says CNN Bio.

Ancora, who worked on a book called “Huddle: How Women Unlock Your Collective Power,” said live that she does not immediately jump into a new job and that she feels “vulnerable.”

“I have to do more, I have to do more outside this place – outside the walls of this place, a place I was privileged to call home 13 years ago,” she said. “And yes, we are still in a pandemic and no, I don’t have a job to jump straight into. And yes, yes, I feel very vulnerable. ”

Baldwin’s colleagues, other journalists and celebrities wanted to anchor themselves on Twitter:
