Detective Myles Cosgrove was fired Tuesday for using lethal force to fire 16 shots into Taylor’s home and failing to activate his body camera, according to a copy of his letter of resignation.
Detective Joshua Jaynes, who wrote the search warrant for the raid on Taylor’s home, was also fired Tuesday for “ failing to complete a search warrant operational plan form ” and being untrue about verifying that Taylor’s previous friend , Jamarcus Glover, had received packages at Taylor’s home, according to a copy of his termination letter obtained by CNN.
Cosgrove and Jaynes can appeal the dismissal, which would lead to a review by the LMPD Merit Board and ultimately lead to a public hearing.
CNN has contacted their attorneys and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Cameron has said Cosgrove fired the deadly shot – which he said was justified because Taylor’s friend fired at cops first.
At the very least, my daughter, like all aggrieved victims, deserves a competent and competent prosecution team committed to properly investigating the case, evaluating the law from an unbiased lens, presenting the evidence and enabling the major jurors establish the functions guaranteed to them under the law, ‘wrote Palmer in her request for relief.
