Brazilian twins change gender at the same time – People – Culture

Mayla and Sofía became the world’s first twins to undergo sex reassignment surgery, according to the news agency ‘AFP’.

At the age of 19, they made the decision to have the procedure and they went to Blumenau City Transgender Medical Center so that the Dr. José Carlos Martins will serve them.

In statements to the aforementioned medium, Dr. Martins said that “this is the only case in the world”, referring to both trans women, who are very active on social networks.

For this operation, which lasted 5 hours, The twins had the support of their entire family, and even their grandfather was the one who paid for the procedure.

The twins were born in the Brazilian municipality of Tapira, Minas Gerais state.

Really, Sofía is studying civil engineering in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Mayla is studying medicine in Argentina.
