Bond conditions released for Derion Vence, a man accused of killing Maleah Davis

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Derion Vence, the main suspect in the death of Maleah Davis, appeared before a judge for a bail hearing Friday morning after writing a letter requesting a reduction in bonds.

Vence is accused of falsifying the evidence, namely a corpse. He is also accused of injuring a child who has caused serious bodily harm.

As part of Vence’s bond conditions, the state requested that he remain in Harris County and surrounding areas. He must have no contact with Brittany Bowens, Maleah Davis’ mother or any member of the Davis family, as well as children under the age of 17. Must undergo random drug testing and wear a GPS monitor. And he doesn’t have to have a gun.

Vence reported Davis’ disappearance in May 2019. Her body was found the same month in rural Arkansas.

Vence’s bond is currently set at $ 90,000. He demands that the guarantee be reduced to $ 45,000.
