Blizzard’s Diablo II Remaster will support old save files

DiabloII Risen

Last month, Blizzard announced Diablo II: Risen. It is a remaster of the base game and Lord of Destruction and comes on Nintendo Switch and other platforms this year. If you happen to be a returning player, you may be interested to know that you will actually be able to use the saves from the original PC game.

Speaking to IGN, game maker Matthew Cederquist explained how assistance for saving files over two decades old was not initially planned. The team just tried it and it happened to work.

“It simply came to our notice then [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work and we kind of inserted them and it worked. And we said, “Okay, that’s the best feature ever.” ”

Although it has not been mentioned whether this feature will work even with console versions of the game, the remaster supports cross-progression. So, in theory, you should be able to upload the old computer save file to your computer version and then access it on the console platform of your choice.

Even if you don’t have the original saves, it means technically that you could start leveling a character of your choice in the original computer version (available on Battle.Net), because the remaster is the same game with new audio and graphics, and a few other changes. , such as the improved user interface, extensive storage, and seasons of renovated stairs.
