recap: Diablo Immortal takes place between the events of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (an expansion for Diablo II) and Diablo III. The massive multiplayer element aside, it seems to look and play a lot like a traditional Diablo game, only on mobile. That won’t reassure everyone (especially hard PC gamers), but it may not be as bad as critics initially suspected.
Diablo Immortal, the massive multiplayer game exclusively for mobile, which Blizzard revealed for the first time at BlizzCon 2018, is right in the curve.
Blizzard announced on Friday that they will soon open the game for a limited technical public alpha. The purpose of the controlled launch is to test server stability and client performance across a wide range of devices, as well as to collect player feedback on basic gameplay, leveling experience, and other early gameplay systems.
Starting today, selected players from Australia who have pre-registered on the Google Play Store will receive an invitation to the technical alpha Diablo Immortal.

The test will be limited to a few thousand players, Blizzard said, and is expected to run for several weeks. Minimum hardware requirements include a Snapdragon 710 SoC, 2 GB RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop or later. The game is free, but there will be optional in-game purchases, although Blizzard said they “will never stand in the way of the game’s progress or enjoyment.”
No general release date has been set for Diablo Immortal.
