Free striker Blake Griffin has a deal with the Brooklyn Nets for the rest of the season, his Excel basketball agent Sam Goldfeder told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Griffin, 31, agreed to buy his contract with the Detroit Pistons on Friday and resigned over the weekend.
Although several teams were interested in Griffin, the six-time All-Star player decided to join a Nets that is considering the championship.
Griffin gives the Mets a bigger dimension behind DeAndre Jordan, while the team considers him a small center of the ball on the bench.
The injuries dramatically altered Griffin’s performance, eliminating the high jump attacks that marked his career. Now he relies on triples and his ability to help other players.
Griffin has averaged 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 20 games for Detroit this season.
