Bitcoin is down 5.84% at $ 43,418

(Reuters) – Bitcoin fell 5.84% to $ 43,418.02 on Sunday, losing $ 2,691.96 from its previous close.

Bitcoin, the largest and most popular cryptocurrency in the world, fell 25.6% from a year high of $ 58,354.14 on February 21st.

The price of Bitcoin has risen this year as major companies, including BNY Mellon, asset manager BlackRock Inc and credit card giant Mastercard Inc, have backed cryptocurrencies, while others such as Tesla Inc Square Inc and MicroStrategy Inc have invested in bitcoin.

Ether, the currency linked to the blockchain ethereum, fell 9.59% on Sunday to $ 1,319.12, losing $ 139.91 from its previous close.
