Biden will sign 15 executive actions on the first day

President-elect Joe Biden is expected to sign 15 executive actions when he takes office on Wednesday, immediately reversing the Trump administration’s key policies.

Why does it matter: The 15 actions – which address issues such as climate change and immigration – mark more drastic immediate steps compared to the two-day actions – one of Biden’s four predecessors, according to White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

What are they saying: The actions are the first of many, Psaki said in a press release, while Biden is working “to address the four crises he has established” – COVID-19, the economic crisis, racial injustice and climate change.

  • “In the coming days and weeks, we will announce additional executive action to meet these challenges and fulfill the promises of the president-elect to the American people,” Psaki said, “including lifting the U.S. military ban and reversing Mexico City policy.”
