Biden will publish the White House visitor logs

The Biden-Harris administration intends to release the logs of White House visitors once the president-elect takes office, transition spokesman Jen Psaki said Friday.

Why does it matter: President Trump’s White House has kept visitor diaries at headquarters, a move that has been heavily criticized and faced with legal challenges for lack of transparency. Biden’s decision is a return to the policy held during the Obama administration, which archived and released its diaries, according to Politico.

What she says: “For the sake of clarity – the Biden-Harris administration will return to the policy of issuing White House visitor diaries,” Psaki wrote on Twitter.

  • Note: “It is also true that visitors will be limited for a period of time, as safety during the pandemic is a top priority,” she added, referring to the new administration’s COVID precautions.
