Cardona, the first Latino education commissioner in Connecticut, has worked as an elementary school teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent, fulfilling Biden’s promise to address someone with experience in public education. His nomination also adds to the diversity that the president-elect promised to have in his administration, as he was the third Latino cabinet nominee.
