Baseball player Cosby High was “fighter like no other”

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Virginia – The Cosby High School baseball team mourns the loss of Steele Kirwan, who died after a long battle with cancer.

Senior Cosby’s jersey was placed on the baseball field in his honor on Saturday afternoon.

The baseball team remembered the teenager as “a great teammate, a child, a young man and a friend.”

The team said Kirwan was “a fighter like no other” who made them stronger and taught them to never take anything for granted.

“Our thoughts and prayers are passed on to the family,” the team’s coach wrote. “Cosby baseball will be Steele Strong forever!”

Kirwan’s father said that his son is his hero and his best friend.

The family asks you to keep them in your prayers. However, they demanded that no one gather in high school as a precaution because of the pandemic.
