Maritime Action Ship (BAM) furore from Armada participated this week in the multinational exercise Obangame Express 21, some maneuvers organized by the United States in the Gulf of Guinea through it Operational Command in Africa (Africom)and in which a total of thirty-three countries participated.

This BAM is fulfilling its mission African development, integrated in Maritime Operational Command (MOM), under the operational control of Operational Command (MOPS). “This operation will improve knowledge of the maritime environment off the coast of West Africa and the Gulf of Guinea and conduct security and defense cooperation with riparian countries,” Emad said.

Furor left the port of Tema (Ghana) at sea on March 19, after the opening ceremony and the initial coordination meeting before the maneuvers. For five days, the Spanish ship has been collaborating with the coastal countries of the Gulf of Guinea, including Ghana, Ivory Coast and Liberia, in exercises related to Maritime security (Segmar).

As Emad explains, he worked on what is called Regional maritime training, which aims to “support and contribute to increasing Segmar’s capacity and improving its coordination and cooperation procedures within the regional architecture established after the Yaoundé process in 2013”.

Ships from allied countries belonging European Union which also made it possible to carry out combined maneuvers within the project Coordinated maritime presence (CMP, for its acronym in English).
