Baker Mayfield could give the Jets hope for Sam Darnold

Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield will always be connected as top members of the same draft class in 2018.

As the two defenders started on Sunday, Mayfield, the former option no. 1, has the Browns in the abyss of their first place in the 2002 playoffs, with a 10-4 record a year after finishing second in the league with 21 interceptions in a 6-10 season.

Darnold, choice no. 3 of 2018 and the Jets didn’t win their first game of 2020 until last week against the Rams, but the much improved game from one year to the next for Mayfield and Browns can be a lesson for the Aircraft if they don’t make a brilliant change of defender through the for next season.

“Baker played great. Honestly, I didn’t watch a lot of him, but obviously he wins games, so he has to do a good job “, said Darnold after training on Thursday. “I always say it and I will say it again. Defenders and coaches in this league are always judged on their victories and losses. That’s it.

“Baker won this year and we didn’t win as much this year as we would have liked, obviously. We will continue to be judged in this regard, as it should be. … Baker did a very good job this year and I think for me there are obviously some things I have to work on ”.

Darnold added that his family has been tested for COVID-19 by the Jets and will end up spending Christmas with them.

Adam Gase, Mekhi Becton’s left striker, faces Pro Bowl defensive end Myles Garrett on Sunday (11 sacks): “If you want to know where you are, this is the right guy to fight. … When you see him singing live, it is an impressive sight to see. “

Tight end Ryan Griffin was placed on the reserve list / COVID-19 on Wednesday because he was considered to have come into close contact with someone outside the organization who gave positive results. Gase said he still believes Griffin “has a shot” to play on Sunday if he continues to give negative results.

Browns left-back Jedrick Wills was placed on the reserve list / COVID-19 on Thursday, but it looks like he could play.

In addition to Curtis Martin MVP Award winner Marcus Maye, other winners included Frank Gore (Dennis Byrd / Most Inspirational), Griffin (Ed Block / Courage), Matthias Farley (Marty Lyons / Community Service), Folorunso Fatukasi (Kyle Clifton / Good Guy) and Denzel Mims (Bill Hampton / Rookie Who Acts Like a Pro). … CB Javelin Guidry (knee) did not train.
