The airline explains that it is working with authorities to track down the other passengers who have traveled on the same plane
Avianca is conducting an internal investigation after learning that a passenger boarded one of its flights with a positive test for Covid-19, and is also working with authorities to contact the other passengers on the same flight traveled.
“Since the event became known, we are investigating what happened while revising the documentation in the pre-shipment to strengthen and improve the protocols to prevent such an event from repeating,” the company explains to El Diario . de Hoy, through his press unit.

The airline stated that “it is important to note that the company has paid close attention to providing all the information required by the authorities for the respective epidemiological tracking of the passengers traveling on that flight.”
According to information from Migration and Immigration, 74 people boarded between passengers and crew.
Likewise, Avianca reiterated its call to passengers to comply with the requirements demanded at each destination and with the biosafety protocols. “In addition to providing truthful information, as it is everyone’s responsibility to maintain the care of passengers and crew,” they said in the company.
According to health protocols established by the authorities before boarding a flight, travelers have a responsibility to provide all documentation required by the country of final destination, which in the case of El Salvador to test negative for Covid-19 before traveling; then the airlines are the filter when the passengers board and already in the country of arrival the migration authorities are responsible for confirming the documentation of each passenger.
Salvadoran migration authorities reported this morning that a person of dual citizenship: Mexican and American, boarded an Avianca flight from Los Angeles, United States, after presenting a positive test for Covid-19, so upon arrival at the airport it was isolated. They also indicate that in this case they will impose a fine on the airline.
