Notable launches in this week’s economic calendar include existing National Realtors Association sales data for March and the Conference’s Main Economic Index for March, both on Thursday. Friday,
IHS Markit
launches both its indexes of production and service procurement managers for April. The census bureau will also report sales of new single-family homes for March.
Finally, the European Central Bank will announce the latest monetary policy decision in Frankfurt on Thursday. The expectation of consensus is that policy makers will keep their reference interest rate unchanged at half a point below zero.

National Association of realtors report sales of existing homes for March. The consensus estimate is for a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.3 million homes sold, slightly higher than the 6.2 million in February. Existing home sales are slightly off the recent high in October last year, but are stronger than at any time since the housing bubble burst almost 15 years ago.
Conference Council launches its main economic index for March. Economists forecast a 0.6% month-on-month increase, after a 0.2% increase in February. The latest forecast from the Conference Board predicts a 5.5% increase in gross domestic product this year.
Friday 4/23
American Express, Honeywell International,
Kimberly-Clark,
Financial regions,
and Schlumberger, publish quarterly results.
Launch IHS Markit both the Production and Services Procurement Managers’ Index for April. Expectations are for a reading of 60.3 for the manufacturing PMI and a reading of 60.5 for the services PMI. Both estimates would be maximum for three years for their respective indices.
Census Bureau reports sales of new single-family homes for March. The consensus estimate is for a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 831,000 homes sold, up from 775,000 in February. Then, the average selling price of a new home was $ 349,400, just shy compared to the December high of $ 356,600.
