Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has a secret alien arch in a pile of stone

Here I thought the Borderlands games were the only ones that would throw you cold prey when you hit piles of dirt and rock, but it seems that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla also has something to hide in its rock piles. Over the weekend, players at Valhalla managed to find a secret Isu bow by repeatedly hitting a fairly modest pile of stones – however, this is certainly not how you should find it.

In this video, YouTuber “JorRaptor” goes through how everything works (thanks, Kotaku). First, you will need Eivor to travel north to Eurvicscire and find the special pile of rocks by a lake.

These types of stone piles usually break when you hit them, throwing iron ore. The weird thing about it is that it doesn’t break. Save it, save it, and reload it, then hit it even harder, and eventually the mythical bow, the Bow of Noden, will appear in your inventory.

It is a weapon made of Isu, an ancient civilization in the tradition of Assassin’s Creed, which precedes humans. They were basically gods and also some kind of aliens, so it’s great. The bow is beautiful and shiny, here is a beautiful screenshot made by Reddit user “inxcognito”:

Unfortunately, finding this weapon by hitting stones seems to be a mistake, rather than a feature.

“This is a clever brute force hack, not the ‘proper’ way to get this arc,” said Valhalla’s narrative director. Darby McDevitt posted on Twitter. “There is a way in the world to reach it. But I guess this works for an Any% Speedrun. ”

He adds that the legitimate way to get the bow “involves a few steps that I have not yet seen people trying,” but does not say exactly what those steps are. It’s nice to hear that the game still has a few unsolved mysteries a few months after launch, it makes me want to dive in again and do some detective work (however, it makes me want to catch the bow in an awkward way before being removed).

Speaking of ancient civilization, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players have recently managed to translate the fictional language Isu. I wonder what other strange and wonderful secrets those alien gods have hidden.
