Arozarena hits home; The rays close NY

St. PETERSBURG, Florida – Austin Meadows and Randy Arozarena prevailed over Domingo Germán, while the Tampa Bay Rays extended their dominance over the New York Yankees, whom they defeated Saturday 4-0.

The Rays have won 10 of their 12 regular season games against the Yankees, their division rivals, since the start of the 2020 season.

Tampa Bay also eliminated New York last season in a maximum of five Division Series games.

Six Tampa Bay pitchers combined to limit the Yankees to five shots.

Meadows started the countdown with a round at home solo in the first half, his third of the season.

Arozarena, a key rookie in the campaign that led Rays to the World Series last year, managed a lone 420-meter run in the third half for a 4-0 lead.

Andrew Kittredge (2-0) worked 1 half 2/3 for the victory. Rays starter Chris Archer left the game with his right forearm tense after 2 1/3 innings in which he gave up three shots and hit four.

For the Yankees, the Venezuelan Gleyber Torres with 4-0. Dominican Gary Sánchez 3-1. Colombian Gio Urshela with 3-0.

For the Rays, the Cubans Arozarena 5-3 with one goal and one product, Yandy Díaz 3-0. Dominicans Willy Adames 3-1 with one goal scored, Francisco Mejía 4-1 with two RBIs.
