(CNN Español) – Former Mexican governor Jalisco Aristotle Sandoval has died in an attack in Puerto Vallarta, the state government reported on Friday via his Twitter account.
The government of Jalisco reports the unfortunate death of the former governor of our state, Aristóteles Sandoval, victim of an attack in Puerto Vallarta. Our deepest condolences to his entire family.

Authorities are at the scene of the crime investigating the events, the Jalisco government said.
The state government added that they will provide more information in the coming hours.
