Apple Watch immediately calls for help for the man who fell through the ice

A New Hampshire man was skating on a frozen river when he fell through the ice, but managed to get help very close to using the Apple Watch instantly.

Firefighters responded to a 911 call after William Rogers fell through the ice on the Salmon Falls River in New Hampshire. He skated on the ice and didn’t realize the ice was thin enough to fall.

“I remember saying to myself, ‘OK, don’t panic. Don’t panic, “Rogers said. “Find out what your options are here.”

As the seconds passed and the hypothermia was about to set in, he remembered that he was wearing an Apple Watch and used it to call 911.

“So I told them I probably had 10 minutes before I could answer,” he said.

The fire department that provided the rescue managed to arrive within five minutes of the call through the Apple Watch.
