Apple today released the RC version of a future macOS Big Sur 11.2 update for developers for testing purposes, with the new beta one week after the second beta and two months after the initial release of MacOS Big Sur.
Developers can download macOS Big Sur 11.2 beta using the software update mechanism in System Preferences after installing the appropriate profile in the Apple Developer Center.
OSmacOS Big Sur 11.2 beta 2 removes a feature that has allowed Apple applications to bypass third-party firewalls, security tools, and VPN applications. OSmacOS Big Sur 11 has included a ContentFilterExclusionList that allows Apple applications such as the App Store, Maps, iCloud, and more to avoid the firewall and VPN applications that users have installed. These applications could not filter or inspect traffic for some embedded Apple applications. This functionality has been removed in OSmacOS Big Sur 11.2.
When macOS Big Sur 11.2 sees launch, Apple applications will be compatible with VPN applications and will no longer be able to bypass firewalls and other security tools.
According to notes released by Apple, the update also improves Bluetooth reliability and includes several bug fixes.
MacOS Big Sur 11.2 improves Bluetooth reliability and fixes the following issues:
– External displays may display a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter
– Changes to Apple ProRAW photos in the Photos application may not be saved
– iCloud Drive may stop after disabling iCloud Drive Desktop & Documents Folders
– System preferences cannot be unlocked when you enter the administrator password
– The globe key cannot display the Emoji panel and symbols when pressed
The update addresses an error that could cause external displays to display a black screen when connected to a M1 Mac mini using an HDMI to DVI converter and fixes an issue that led to changes to Apple ProRaw photos in the Photos application to not save . It also includes fixes for foriCloud Drive, System Preferences, and more.
