Apple is working on the foldable iPhone, the report says

Apple is one step closer to making its much-rumored foldable iPhone a reality.

The Cupertino, California tech giant has asked manufacturer Foxconn to create two prototypes to test potential future iPhone models.

The two models will be very different, says Tom’s Guide, one with a large display that folds in half, while the other is two separate screens joined by a hinge.

It’s unclear if Apple plans to release a pair of foldable phones or if it’s experimenting to find the best design.

The report follows an Apple patent application released last week for an ultra-flexible phone with a display that can be folded both inside and out.

Apple recently launched the newest family of iPhones, including the smallest iPhone in recent years, the 12 Mini.
