Apple today introduced a new iMac redesigned with the M1 chip, but there is another Mac that received an upgrade after the special “Spring Loaded” event. The company has quietly upgraded the M1 Mac mini to an optional 10 Gigabit Ethernet port, which was previously only available on the Intel version of the Mac mini.
When customizing a Mac mini M1 on the Apple online store, customers can now order the computer with a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port, which is faster than the traditional Gigabit Ethernet port. This option was not available at first for Mac mini models with M1 chip.
The upgrade costs $ 100 more than the Mac mini, which starts at $ 699 in the US. Interestingly enough, this configuration leaked into an internal system of Apple authorized service providers shortly after Apple introduced the M1 Mac mini in November last year. It seems that these models simply did not prepare in time to be announced in 2020.
Because the 10 Gigabit Ethernet port is an additional upgrade, customers will only be able to purchase an M1 Mac mini with this configuration from the Apple Store.
You can check out several upgrade options available for the M1 Mac mini on Apple’s official website.
