Apple is on track to sell a record 240-250 million iPhones in fiscal year 2021, surpassing a previous record of 231 million iPhones sold in fiscal 2015, according to Wedbush analyst Dan Ives.

“While the street forecasts about 220 million iPhone units for fiscal year 21, we believe that based on this current trajectory and in a bull carcass, Cupertino still has the potential to sell 240 million units north (~ 250 millions could be in the books – an eye that appears figure) that would easily eclipse Apple’s previous record of 231 million units sold in fiscal year 15, “Ives said in a research note shared today with MacRumors.
Ives estimates that 350 million iPhone users worldwide are currently “in the window of an upgrade opportunity,” which he believes “translates into an unprecedented supercyclist upgrade cycle” for Apple this year.
If this forecast proves to be accurate, the iPhone 12 range could prove to be the most popular from the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which have seen strong demand since their launch in September 2014 due to the larger screen size. Samsung has already offered several smartphones with screen sizes at or above the 5-inch mark at the time.
