Apple is distributing the “Fumble” ad that highlights the iPhone 12 ceramic shield

Apple today released a new ad that focuses on the durability of the iPhone 12, specifically emphasizing the Ceramic Shield screen, which is meant to be tougher than standard smartphone glass.

In the ad, a woman’s iPhone 12 slipped from her hand and she stammered it for a few seconds before it flew out of her grip and landed on the ground, coming out unscathed.

“PiPhone 12‌ with Ceramic Shield. Harder than any smartphone bottle. Relax, it’s the iPhone,” reads the video’s subtitle.

All ‌iPhone 12‌ models have Ceramic Shield OLED displays, which Apple says offer four times better protection than previous withiPhone‌ models.

The Ceramic Shield material, which comes from Corning, is made by infusing nano-ceramic crystals into glass to improve durability. Although the Ceramic Shield seems to be more able to withstand drops than the previous ‌iPhone‌ display technology, it is still prone to scratching.
