Apple closes stores in Michigan amid rising COVID

Apple announced on Friday that the company is temporarily closing its retail stores in Michigan, amid an increase in COVID-19 cases in the state.

Apple said it will continue to allow customers with existing orders or items to pick up at stores over the weekend.

“Due to the current COVID-19 conditions, we are temporarily closing stores in Michigan. We take this step with great caution, as we are closely monitoring the situation and look forward to returning our teams and customers as soon as possible. For help with an Apple product, more ways to shop or more information about our stores, please visit http://apple.com/retail, ”said a statement from Apple.

Michigan reported 8,955 new cases of COVID-19 and 40 additional deaths Friday, while the state is facing an increase in the disease.

The state also reported another increase in hospitalizations with COVID on Friday – 4,183 patients hospitalized with the disease in Michigan hospitals, of which 873 were in critical care.
