One of the higher profile third releases coming to Nintendo Switch this year is Respawn Entertainment’s free first-person shooter, Apex Legends (another EA title).
Last week, a Japanese game release trailer mentioned that this version will be released on the same date as season 8 of February 2. Now, an Amazon Japan listing for “Champion Edition” has listed the same date and pre-orders are live.
Apex Legends was originally scheduled to arrive on Switch last year, until Respawn delayed the game in October. Director Chad Grenier said the team wants to make the Nintendo version “right” – and as a result will require more development time.
“For those who play on the Nintendo Switch, we work hard at the port, but to do the game justice and turn it into the great experience that Switch players deserve, our team needs more time. This year has brought unexpected new challenges, to put it mildly, and we do not want to rush into anything.“
If Apex Legends actually arrives on February 2, we expect to hear something official very soon. Will you download this free-to-play title when it finally arrives on the Switch? Leave a comment below.
