During the state COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen noted that nearly a third (31.7%) of adults received at least one dose of vaccination, and 18.8% are completely vaccinated.

“I urge everyone to get it,” said John Rivera, who was recently vaccinated. “I’m not surprised that in this great country it is possible to launch a vaccine to fight such a pandemic so quickly.”

“Our vaccine equity efforts remain a priority, along with speed,” Governor Roy Cooper said in a tweet. “We continue to vaccinate people quickly and correctly.”

The number of new cases of COVID-19 in the state has decreased, as opposed to the decrease as in recent weeks. Cohen said the state was “in a positive place.”

“Every blow in one arm brings us closer to turning the corner of this pandemic,” Cooper said.

The state says any adult in North Carolina who wants a coronavirus vaccine will be able to get one by May 1. Last week, CFVH exceeded the 100,000 dose stage.
