Antonio Marte: It is not possible for users to continue to pay for the consequences of the transport disruption

The chairman of the National Confederation of Transport Organizations (Conatra), Antonio Marte, said on Wednesday that the sector is ready to work with the government to transform the transportation system in the Dominican Republic.

Marte indicated that it is urgent to organize the sector because it is not possible for users to afford the consequences of the disarray of the transportation system in the country.

“This transport needs to be repaired, we are dying, the pressure is not lethal when we see 42,000 cars in the Santo Domingo urban area causing major blockages,” Marte said during the launch of the Núñez de Cáceres corridor. it was headed by the president of the republic Luis Abinader.

Marte pledged to work from the Senate and as an industry union leader, first in the capital, then in Santiago, La Romana, and city by city, until transportation transformed across the country.

“I don’t want to die without seeing an organized transport Dominican Republic, without seeing so much conflict in this sector as it generates interests in the pockets of many of us union members “, to express.

Marte explained that to improve the sector it is necessary to relieve and decontaminate the city (with the introduction of electric vehicles) and to organize truck drivers, public motorists, taxi drivers and motorcycle conchos. He added that interurban terminals should also be completed as soon as possible.

“I guarantee you that with the large parking lots, putting out the cars, turning off the intercity buses and indicating clear, specific routes on the trucks, there will be no plugs”, considered the union leader.
