Another 344 COVID-19 cases, over 19K vaccinations and no new deaths were reported Sunday in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah rose 344 on Sunday, with 19,328 additional vaccinations administered and no new deaths, according to the Utah Department of Health.

The average weekly average for positive COVID-19 tests is now 396 cases a day, says the health department. The positive daily test rate, calculated by the “people over people” method, is now 7.2%. The positive daily test rate, calculated by the “test over test” method, is now 3.6%.

There are now 43 Utahns hospitalized with COVID-19, with 15,760 total hospitalizations since the beginning of the pandemic. However, this number is artificially low because the state has identified a reporting problem with one of their healthcare systems that affects the data of the daily hospitalization survey. The error is expected to be fixed by Monday.

A total of 1,703,065 doses of the vaccine were administered in the state, up from 1,683,737 on Saturday. A total of 1,099,828 Utahns have now received at least one dose of vaccine.

The numbers come two days after the expiration of the state-wide mask mandate, although many private companies and public spaces will continue to mandate masks.
