Nearly 975,000 Utahns have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and the state is expected to exceed 1 million this week. The state reports that 564,824 Utahns were “fully vaccinated,” meaning they received either both doses of the two-dose vaccine or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is a single-dose vaccine.
The Department of Health also reported Sunday that there are 129 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah because of COVID-19. It is five less than those reported on Saturday. Forty-five of these hospitalized patients were in intensive care units.
Sunday’s total gives Utah 387,341 confirmed cases in total, with 15,608 total hospitalizations and 2,132 total deaths from the March 2020 disease. The new figures indicate a less than 1% increase in positive cases on Saturday.
Of the more than 2.4 million people tested for COVID-19 in Utah so far, 1.6% tested positive for COVID-19.
