SALT LAKE CITY – The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah rose 259 on Monday, with another death and 2,087 reported vaccinations, according to the Utah Department of Health.
The state now estimates that there are 13,707 active cases of the disease in Utah. The average continuous number of seven positive days a day is now 518, according to the health department. The positive daily test rate for that period compared to the ‘people over people’ method is now 9%. The positive seven-day average test rate calculated using the ‘test-by-test’ method is now 4.4%.
There are now 193 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah, including 74 in intensive care, state data show. About 68% of all intensive care unit beds in Utah are now occupied, including about 71% of ICU beds in the state’s 16 referral hospitals. About 50 percent of non-ICU hospital beds are now occupied, according to state data.
A total of 857,750 vaccines were administered in the state, up from 855,663 on Sunday. A total of 556,791 people have received at least one dose of vaccine, while 310,327 are now fully vaccinated, according to the health department. A total of 1,006,315 doses of vaccine have now been shipped to Utah.
The new figures indicate a 0.07% increase in positive cases on Sunday. Of the 2,251,204 people tested for COVID-19 in Utah to date, 16.7% tested positive for COVID-19. The total number of tests performed since the beginning of the pandemic is now 3,917,828, up from 5,530 on Sunday. Of these, 3,083 were tests in people who had not been previously tested for COVID-19, according to the health department.
The death reported on Monday was a man from Washington County who was between 65 and 84 years old and was hospitalized when he died.
Utah’s total month offers 375,109 confirmed cases in total, with 14,913 total hospitalizations and 1,977 total deaths from the disease. A total of 359,425 cases in Utah COVID-19 are now considered recovered, according to the health department.
