SALT LAKE CITY – About one-third of Utah’s vaccine-eligible population is now completely inoculated with COVID-19, while just over half of eligible Utahs have now received at least one dose of vaccine, the Utah Department of Health reported Monday .
The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah increased Monday by 200, with two more deaths and 1,326 reported vaccinations, according to the health department.
A total of 1,898,857 doses of vaccine were administered in the state, up from 1,897,531 on Sunday. A total of 1,191,770 Utahns, or about 37.2% of the state’s population, have now received at least one dose of vaccine, while 791,734, about 24.7% of the state’s total population, are fully vaccinated. About 50.1% of all Utahns aged 16 and over have now received at least one dose of vaccine, according to the health department. About 33.3% of Utahns aged 16 and over are now fully vaccinated, the health department reported.
A total of 2,168,470 doses of vaccine have been shipped to the state so far, according to the health department.
The Department of Health estimates that there are 8,538 active cases of COVID-19 in Utah as of Monday. The average continuous number of seven positive days a day is now 382, according to the health department. The positive daily test rate for that time period calculated using the “people over people” method is now 6.9%. The positive daily test rate for that period calculated using the “test over test” method is now 3.5%.
There are 138 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah, including 54 in intensive care, state data show. About 66% of all intensive care unit beds in Utah are now occupied, including approximately 69% of intensive care beds in 16 state reference hospitals. About 51 percent of Utah’s non-ICU hospital beds have been occupied since Monday, according to state data.
The new figures indicate a 0.05% increase in positive cases on Sunday. Of the 2,493,089 people tested for COVID-19 in Utah so far, 15.8% tested positive for COVID-19. The total number of tests conducted since the beginning of the Utah pandemic is now 4,480,612, up from 5,021 on Sunday. Of these, 2,695 were tested in people who had not been previously tested for the disease.
The two deaths reported Monday were both from Weber County. One was a man between the ages of 45 and 64 and was hospitalized when he died, and the second was a woman between the ages of 45 and 64 and a resident of a long-term care facility.
Monday’s total provides Utah with 392,957 confirmed cases in total, with 15,922 total hospitalizations and 2,166 total deaths from the disease. An estimated 382,253 COVID-19 cases in Utah are now considered recovered, according to the health department.
The Utah Endgame Pandemic Bill, formally known as HB294, requires that all state and local health orders related to COVID-19 end on the day Utah reaches the threshold in three key values: the rate of cases 14-day state is lower than 191 per 100,000 people, the average seven-day use of the COVID-19 intensive care unit is below 15%, and 1,633,000 primary doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been allocated in Utah .
Since Monday, Utah has been meeting the HB294 thresholds for the first two statistics. The state COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 people is now at 170.2, and the COUID-19 utilization rate in the last seven days is now 11.9%.
Only 1,335,645 prime doses have been allocated in Utah since Monday, according to the health department. The first doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccination cycles, as well as the only dose of Johnson & Johnson product, are considered primary doses. The state is expected to reach 1,633,000 main reference doses by the second or third week of May, according to health officials.
